Different Versions Of Phirni

In India, you can get different versions of Phirni with different names. Each state will present you with the same dish but with different techniques. Some of those versions include kheer in the North and payasam in the south. In fact, in Iran, you will get to try this dish as Fereni, whereas in Egypt and Turkey, people call it Muhallabia.

The Romans introduced this rice pudding dish to Europe in the early 17th century. They mainly use this dish to cure digestive issues and stomach ailments. People from Europe consider it a rice pottage where they boil the rice and then mix it with some cow milk and sugar to give it a sweet taste.
